When you enter the cloth diapering world and start looking at websites or WAHM sales on ebay, you get really overwhelmed and almost want to quit there. Then you start seeing abbreviations, and its taxing on the brain!

prefolds: in my FAQ section you saw that I said this was 2007 not 1980, but many mommas like prefolds today still. Are you thinking, OMG PINS! They make this new thing called a snappi, its got little plastic claws on a stretchy rubber like band, it grabs 3 sections of the diaper and pulls them inward so they won’t hurt babies, they come in a few colors to choose from. You will still want a cover for these diapers because they aren’t water proof….

Fitted diapers: They are a diaper that can be made out of many types of materials. Different materials soak better than others. It depends on what type of wetter you have. But fitted diapers have no water proof barrier, therefore you will need a type of cover. They also come in MANY MANY

if you see OV it means organic velour. I see this alot with fitteds.

Covers: my favorite diaper cover is the BSWW which stands for Bummis super whisper wrap. Unfortunatley the don’t come in very many cute prints. There are also many other types of covers. The nice thing about covers are you don’t need the same amount of covers as you have of diapers. you can use covers a few times before you need to toss them in the wash.

there are also wool covers. They are made of merino wool, and a nother type I think, its actually soft! not itchy for baby. You can buy them in shorties or longies. shorties are like well shorts, and longies are like pants, the great thing about wool covers are, they aren’t ONLY a diaper cover, they are clothing! Shorties in teh summer will not overheat your child. wool is also antibacterial! You obviously cannot wash these in the washer or drier. If you child pees you can hang dry them, and use them again a few times, the pee crystalizes inside the wool fibers, if they get poop on them, then you will need to wash them obviously, but pee you can reuse the cover a few times. To wash them you can buy lanolin or a wool wash bar. pretty much you just use tepid water, scrub on them, the lanolin or wool wash bar releases the crystals, you roll them in a towel not pressing to hard, unroll hang dry. Easy peasy!

ok onto diapers that don’t require covers.

Pocket Diapers: Pocket diapers are basically a diaper with a pocket for stuffing inserts into. you have one layer, usually fleece next
