As parents we don’t want our little babies to suffer in anyway. We protect them with every little thing, including diaper rash. There is no guarantee that your child will never get diaper rash, but you can try to prevent it.

Diaper rash is caused by moisture. That said, it is very important to keep your baby’s behind as dry as possible. If your baby just soiled herself, change her right away. Aside from moisture other causes of diaper rash are chafing(rubbing). When your baby begins walking this causes quite a nuisance. Infections like yeast or bacterial, or allergic reactions can cause diaper rash.

When the skin is wet it begins to soften and wear down. Any type of irritation can begin to tear at the skin causing a rash. A baby that is crawling or walking may experience diaper rash more easily.

Preventing diaper rash is relatively easy. Make sure you change the diaper often. The next is to rinse the skin with warm water. You can use a squirt bottle, or if you prefer you may use a wet cloth, or cotton ball. The important thing is not to use any wipes with alcohol. It would make the skin burn. After that is done, pat her dry with a towel.

When you place the diaper back on, don’t make the diaper too tight. Air helps the moisture evaporate. If the diaper is too tight, the moisture will just sit there. If you use cloth diapers choose liners that have more breathing room rather than plastic or rubber ones.

The last thing is to use ointment. Place on the skin with every diaper change.

Preventing diaper rash is possible. Your little one can wonder around without irritation, or fussiness. Just follow the simple steps and you should see an improvement within days.
